In a major victory for animals, people and the planet, our END IT petition hit one million signatures today.

A global call

People across 242 countries and regions – from Brazil to Burkina Faso, and from Sweden to Singapore – are calling on world leaders to end factory farming for a more sustainable future.

The signatories, from a wide range of backgrounds and expertise, speak with one voice: it’s time to transform our unfair and environmentally destructive food and farming system. Factory farms must be banished to the history books.

Meeting global commitments on sustainable development, biodiversity and the Paris Climate Agreement would be impossible without change.

World leaders will hear directly from the million voices, when we hand in our petition to the UN this autumn.

Time for transformation

Our petition calls for a UN Global Agreement on food and farming.

This would:

Spark a transition to nature-positive farming systems that restore biodiversity and soils
Help limit the global increase in temperatures to below 1.5C
Deliver higher standards on farmed animal welfare
Reduce our overreliance on animal protein in high-consuming countries
Support fair, secure access to nutritious food for everyone
Provide fair livelihoods for farmers and protect the rights of indigenous peoples, women, and vulnerable communities
Ensure that financial and regulatory frameworks are in place to support this transition

The tide is turning

A million people - from all corners of the world - are demanding change, and world leaders must listen.

Regardless of country or background, these million signatories all agree that a better food system is not only possible, but long overdue.

This petition is a breakthrough for the future of our food, farming, and the animals trapped in our cruel system.

And with a worsening climate crisis, the clock is ticking. The time to act is now.
